Sustainability
Sustainability in Fibers
Recycling has always been a necessity due to the difficulty and scarcity of obtaining natural resources.
Furthermore, recycling reduces financial losses. With rapidly depleting resources and the pollution caused by non-recyclable materials, it is essential for every organization and individual to act with a sustainable environmental consciousness. Guided by this principle, Altınsu Tekstil is committed to recycling, re-evaluating, and minimizing waste in every area.
Our polyester recycling line, which aims to source sustainable raw materials, has an annual production capacity of 11,472,300 kg of PET chips, with active production of 13-15 tons/day. Alongside approximately 3.5 tons/day of in-process waste, we also utilize textile waste from certified waste collection companies to produce first-quality products.
- We reduce our average waste rate from 15% to 0.5%.
- We increase the added value of safe textile waste that was previously used as filler material.
- We prevent the fuel consumption required for transferring waste to scrap firms.
- Each stage of our recycling line is audited and certified within the scope of internationally recognized recycled product standards (GRS).
Recovery of Auxiliary Materials:
We recycle plastic bobbins used in our processes.
- Our plastic injection line produces 13,000 single-use bobbins daily.
- We reduce plastic waste by reintroducing it into production.
- In addition to recovering plastic, we obtained 150,000 aluminum bobbins, reducing our need for plastic bobbins by 40%.
Sustainability in Water Resources
Water, one of the most rapidly depleting resources, is a top priority in a growing, warming world. With this awareness, we are constantly developing new ideas to minimize water consumption from our production processes.
- We recycle 60% of the process water used in our yarn and weaving production division through pre-treatment and reuse it.
- We manage all rainwater and cooling water within our facility’s boundaries.
- We implement projects to reduce dyeing processes by using colored yarn techniques.
- We work on projects to decrease water consumption per unit of production.
Sustainability in Energy
The importance of generating electricity without consuming other resources is felt more each day. Driven by this need, we are continuing our efforts to produce electricity from wind energy.
It is estimated that the two wind turbines planned for 2023 will generate approximately 5MW of energy per hour.
Our Upcycling Applications
We aim to raise awareness among our employees about sustainable living, demonstrating how to repurpose potentially waste materials and create eco-friendly structures.
- Wooden pallets have been used to build dining areas, dressing rooms, meeting and training rooms, and a prayer room.
